🛕 A Masterpiece of Chola Architecture

Built by the महान Chola king Raja Raja Chola I in the 11th century, the temple is a stunning example of Dravidian architecture. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, recognized as part of the Great Living Chola Temples.

🪨 Engineering Marvel

The entire temple is built using granite stones, even though there were no major granite sources nearby. The massive Nandi (bull statue) at the entrance is carved from a single stone and is one of the largest in India.
